Dory's Dinners - Country Cook-Outs

We love these things!
They are a recipe from a family cook book and they get their name because you can prepare them ahead of time, pop them in the cooler and cook them over a campfire while on a camping trip. Well, we don't camp so I cook them in the oven. And I have changed the recipe.
Here is the original recipe:
1 lb. ground meat (or enough meat for everyone one patty)
4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
sliced onions
8 large carrots, peeled and cut
butter
salt and pepper to taste
Season hamburger meat and make patties. One patty for each foil packet. Place each patty in the middle of a 12 in. square of heavy duty foil. Place veggies on top of meat and season. Place dabs of butter around meat and veggies. Seal foil and place directly on hot coals for about 10 to 15 mins., shaking or turning gently periodically or place on a grill for 30 to 40 mins.

Here is my version:
1 lb. ground meat
1 packet lipton onion soup mix
1/2 cup water
potatoes (as many as you like)
butter
salt and pepper to taste
Mix meat with soup mix and water, form into patties. Cover with potatoes, add dabs of butter and s&p. Seal the foil packs, place them in a glass dish and bake in the oven on 400 degrees until done. I should have added the carrots, but didn't. :)
